Great news for Toronto in all sorts of ways! Former Wildcat Matt Black has re-signed with the Toronto Argonauts as he enters his 9th year in the CFL. Its great for MTW as we will still see lots of Matt on the field and at our camps! Its even better for the GTA community.

Matt has been an ambassador and devoted member of the Argonauts’ community initiatives including the club’s longstanding Huddle Up Bullying Prevention Program. He was honoured as the CFL’s 2016 Jake Gaudaur Veterans Award recipient, presented annually to a CFL Player who best demonstrates the attributes possessed by Canada’s veterans: Strength, Perseverance, Courage, Comradeship, and Contribution to Canadian communities.

After Matt’s three seasons at MTW, he took his skills on full scholarship to Saginaw Valley State and had his most productive season in Double Blue last season, registering a career-high 44 defensive tackles, 10 special team tackles, one interception and a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown.

It is VERY rare these days that any professional athlete plays his sport for the same team for more than one contract let alone for 10+ years but this guy has done it and the Argos have come to realize his importance to that team on the field and this city off the field!

Glad your back Matt!!!
